In accordance with the National Association for Interpretation Bylaws, the elected
Region Executive Board is responsible for organization and management of regional
operations. More specifically:
Director:
Serve as board member of the National Organization; oversee development and approval
of the region budget; guide and oversee administration and operation of the region;
facilitate board, leadership, and regional business meetings, and on-going communication;
develop and maintain relationships with agencies and other organizations; appoint non-elected
leadership positions.
Deputy Director:
Serve as Acting Director in the absence of the Director; facilitate and coordinate membership
involvement and activity through the regional Leadership Group. Areas of specific responsibility
include: coordination with state coordinators, team leaders, chapter chairpersons, and activity
group leaders; organization promotion and membership recruitment; membership services; and
revenue enhancement.
Secretary:
Maintain regional records, meeting minutes, and the region handbook; assist Director
and Deputy Directory and Leadership Group, as needed, and emphasize membership services;
liaison with Publications team for information regarding Board and Leadership Team activities;
provide communications support and services for Regional Board.
Treasurer:
Manage and maintain regional financial records, reports, checking accounts (through the
National Office), and financial resources. Coordinate with revenue enhancement team.
Recommend financial management strategies to regional board.
The Region Leadership Group serves the region by facilitating membership involvement
in guiding and implementing regional programs and plans. Though the Group is not a
voting body of the Region Executive Board, it serves an important advisory and
implementation role. The composition and structure of the Region Leadership Group is
determined by the Board. This group includes: State Representatives, Chapte
Chairpersons, and Team Leaders. Except for the Chapter Chairs, these positions are
non-elected positions. They provide opportunity for direct membership involvement.
Following are position descriptions for Leadership Group service opportunities.
State Coordinators:
Serve as a liaison with Regional Board members, communicate with chapter chairs, facilitate cooperative relationships with agencies and organizations, and provide information regarding state interpretive activities for the regional newsletter. They also advise the Board regarding needs, issues, opportunities, etc.
Chapter Chairmen:
Serve as a liaison between the Chapter and the Regional Board, coordinate chapter activities to complement and enhance regional goals, and coordinate with State Coordinators and Team Leaders to better accomplish related goals.
Team Leaders:
Team Leaders are responsible for forming and facilitating task-oriented teams; defining team objectives;
informing the Board of team accomplishments; recommending to the Board action that will
enhance membership services, involvement and achievement (e.g. team budget, activity guidelines, etc.).
Following are the specific team objectives:
NOMINATIONS/ELECTIONS
Facilitate regional elections (recruit candidates and conduct Regional Board elections) and assist the Board in recruiting Leadership Team members.
MEMBERSHIP/PROMOTION
Increase awareness of NAI through the region and recruit members.
MARKET RESEARCH
Conduct on-going research to identify markets and motivational appeal for program enhancement and promotions.
PUBLICATIONS
Design, edit, and distribute regional newsletters (etc.) to facilitate regional networking and professional development; provide information for national communications/publications.
COMMUNICATIONS
Update and maintain the Rocky Mt. Region website.
TRAINING/WORKSHOPS
Oversee planning and facilitation of all training and workshop opportunities to meet the needs of the regional members.
GRANTS/SCHOLARSHIPS
Manage the regional grants and scholarship program.
RECOGNITION
Develop and manage regional recognition programs.
REVENUE ENHANCEMENT
Identify sources and obtain outside funding to enhance regional programs and activities.
