SCHOLARSHIPS
The Rocky Mt. Regional Scholarship program was developed to assist students in their
interpretive education. Each year the Board budgets $500.00 to assist an undergraduate
student who is majoring in the field of interpretation, environmental education, or
a closely related field.
To apply, students submit:
- A one-page letter or recommendation from a university professor. This letter should state the qualifications of the student and why they should be awarded this scholarship.
- A two-page summary of the student's professional and career goals and their interpretive relevance to interpretation.
- A complete resume.
Applications are reviewed and a winner is selected by a committee of NAI members put
together by the Grants/Scholarship Team Leader. Scholarship winners are asked to
write an article for the regional newsletter sharing their thoughts and desires for
the future and part of their interpretive educational experience for the readers.
This scholarship is awarded once each year in September. Funding for this scholarship
is donated by the regional members primarily through an annual auction.
GRANTS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
In order to encourage continued professional development, members of the Rocky Mt. Region
are encouraged to apply for assistance in attending professional interpretive-related
training opportunities. The Region will pay up to 80% (maximum $200) of an approved
training tuition cost. This program is based on the availability of funds. To apply,
send a course description, cost summary, and a personal statement regarding the value of
such training to the Rocky Mt. Region Grants/Scholarship Team Leader. Following the
training, each participant will be required to write an article for the Region
newsletter or make a presentation at a workshop.
